JD Hixson
Dr. JD Hixson teaches Strategic Metacognition and is a Certified Unbeatable Mind® Coach.
He is sought after for actionable insight into today’s AI-driven VUCA world. During the course of his decades-long performance-based career, his presentations to international marketing conferences have been quoted in the Los Angeles Times, and as a musician, he has been hailed him as “remarkable” by The New York Times for world-premiere solo concerto appearances.
Also a certified XPT Performance Breathing® Coach, he is recognized as a pioneer in empowering and healing breathwork practices, having studied under a wide range of masters in the field.
Trained at The Juilliard School where he earned master and doctoral degrees, JD has built a career defined by precision, creativity, and an old-fashioned love for hard work and discipline. Working intensively for years not only performing on the elite stages of the world but more importantly doing community outreach in NY City with the healing power of music in maximum security psychiatric wards, children cancer hospitals, AIDS and drug rehab clinics, and hospice homes taught him his first lessons in the true meaning of self-mastery in service. He later stepped into the early wave of the internet era, working at the intersection of technology, communication, and large-scale systems — developing a reputation for clarity and high-level execution.
Now based in Tokyo, JD works with a wide spectrum of performers in high-pressure environments: members of the military, corporate executives, world-renowned surgeons, cultural leaders, performing artists, and government figures as well as those from so-called ordinary walks of life just waking up to their extraordinary potential. His coaching is built on a commitment to mastery of the self as the foundation for sustainable service to others, integrating essential principles of Unbeatable Mind; former U.S. Navy SEAL Commander Mark Divine has been a mentor and friend for over a decade.
The ethos is simple: use evidence-based protocols to train your mind and body, polish your spirit, hone your edge. In keeping with this, he is a devoted practitioner of Seido Karate.
JD’s work is for people who want to operate with strategy, presence, resilience, and purpose — no shortcuts, no excuses, full engagement.
